Ausonius (Decimus Magnus Ausonius) was a Gaulish poet and rhetorician from Burdigala (Bordeaux) who lived from 310–395 CE. He is most famous in that his writings give evidence of large-scale viniculture in the now-famous wine country around his native Bordeaux. OriginalTranslation'I am called nine-part sauce' Modern RedactionIngredients:Half a vegetable stock or bouillon cube1 tbsp white wine 1 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp clear honey A handful of chopped fresh parsley, thyme and oregano 75g white bread A pinch of salt and pepper. Method:Finely chop the herbs. Remove the crust from the bread. Bring 150ml of water to the boil and dissolve the stock cube in this. Add the bread to this and allow to soak for a few minutes. Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth. Season with salt and pepper then serve warm. |
