Yumurtali Ekmek
(Turkish-style French Toast) Recipe

Origin: Turkey      Period: Traditional

Ingredients

4 eggs
1 loaf Turkish Bread (or Italian or French bread [these have a similar flavour])
120ml sunflower oil
Feta cheese and black olives, to serve

(Turkish-style French Toast) Preparation:


Method:

Remove the ends of the loaf and cut the remainder into slices about 2.5cm thick. Beat the eggs in a bowl then pour into a shallow dish and dip both sides of the bread into this (but do not allow the bread to sit in the mixture as only the outside should be coated).

Pour the oil into a large frying pan and when hot add a few slices of the bread, cooking on medium high heat until golden brown. Turn the bread over and cook on the other side then transfer the bread to kitchen paper to drain as you cook the remaining bread.

Serve the bread sprinkled with crumbled Feta cheese and garnished with black olives.
