Ingredients:
1.2 onion, chopped
Tinned Tomato Sauce Preparation:Method:Melt the butter in a pan and use to fry the onion and bacon for about 5 minutes, until cooked through. Scatter the flour over the top and stir to combine then gradually stir in the tomatoes before adding the flavourings and seasonings. Bring to a simmer and cook gently for 15 minutes then pass the mixture through a sieve, pressing down with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Add a little sugar if the mixture is too tart for your taste then turn into a pan and re-heat. Serve as a sauce with meat dishes, pasta dishes, cutlets and savoury meals. |
