Tajeen Lahm Fil Forn Recipe

Origin: Libya      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

1kg lamb, cut into chunks
1 tbsp tomato purée
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
1/4 tsp Bzaar
1/4 tsp hot chilli powder
1/4 tsp ground allspice (hrararat)
1 onion, sliced
1 1/2 tsp salt

Tajeen Lahm Fil Forn Preparation:


Method:

Place a flame-proof casserole on the hob and add 250ml water. Stir-in the tomato purée, butter, spices and salt then add the meat and onion. Bring to a simmer then cover and transfer to an oven pre-heated to 180°C. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the meat is tender and serve on a bed of couscous.
