South African Fish Pie RecipeOrigin: South Africa Period: Traditional |
Ingredients:
200g onions, chopped
South African Fish Pie Preparation:Method:Add he butter to a pan and fry the onions, pepper, salt and mustard until the onions soften then add the fish and fry for 2 minutes before adding the tomato sauce, 100g potatoes and beaten egg. Take off the heat and pack into a buttered 25cm square pie dish. Spread the remaining mashed potatoes over the top and brush with 1 egg beaten with 2 tbsp water. Grind some black pepper over the top and place in an oven pre-heated to 170°C for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cut the pie into wedges and serve. |
