Sesame Balls Recipe

Origin: Benin      Period: Traditional

Ingredients

300g sesame seeds
cornflour (cornstarch)
water

Sesame Balls Preparation:


Method:

Pound the sesame seeds to a rough paste (or use a coffee grinder) and add a little water. Sprinkle with the cornflour and work the mixture with your fingers until it's stiff enough to work into small balls (add more cornflour as necessary). Place the sesame balls in a red sauce, such as the Benin Red Sauce or even Sauce Légume.

Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally and very gently so that the sesame seed balls remain intact. Serve over rice, pasta or Pâté Blanche.
