Satan's Fantasy Chili Recipe

Origin: America      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

1.3kg coarsely-minced beef
900g coarsely-minced lamb
2 onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 1/2 tbsp salt
300g green bell pepper, chopped
360ml Mexican-style beer
3 Jalapeño chillies, chopped
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
450g stewed tomatoes, chopped
360ml passata (tomato juice or tomato sauce)
180ml tomato purée
2 tbsp corn oil
3 tbsp ground cumin
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp Mexican oregano

Satan's Fantasy Chili Preparation:


Method:

Add the oil to a large pan or heat-proof casserole and use to brown the meat, onions, garlic and bell pepper. Cook for about 8 minutes, or until the onions are translucent then stir-in the tomatoes, beer, passata, tomato purée, chillies and spices. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer, cover and cook for about 2 hours.

Stir-in the sesame oil at this point then simmer gently for a further 30 minutes. Serve hot over a bed of rice.
