Peperoni and Smoky Bacon Pizza RecipeOrigin: Italy Period: Traditional |
|
This is a very traditional 'country style' Italian pizza, incorporating pepperoni, smoked bacon, bell peppers and smoked cheese. The flavours are very intense and it's a very pleasing kind of topping. Ingredients:
1 bread dough pizza base
Peperoni and Smoky Bacon Pizza Preparation:Method:Roll or knead the pizza dough into a 25cm circle on a floured surface then transfer to a lightly-greased baking tray. Use your fingers to roll the edges slightly so they're higher than the base. Cover and set aside in a warm spot to rise for about 10 minutes. After this time brush the base with the olive oil and sprinkle with the parmesan cheese then spread the tomato sauce over the pizza base, covering it almost to the edge. Top the tomato sauce with the bacon and the bell peppers then scatter the pepperoni over the top and cover with the smoked cheese before sprinkling the oregano on top. Drizzle with a little olive oil then season. Place in an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy. Serve hot. |
