New Zealand Scones Recipe

Origin: New Zealand      Period: Modern

Ingredients

200g plain flour
4 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
100g grated Cheddar cheese
50ml milk

New Zealand Scones Preparation:


Method:

Sift the dry ingredients together and ad 75g of the cheese. Add the milk and mix into a soft dough. Roll the dough on a floured surface until about 2cm thick and cut into rounds with a pastry cutter. Place on a greased baking tray leaving about a 3cm gap between the scones. Sprinkle the tops with the remaining cheese.

Place in an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the scones are golden.

As a guide 1 US cup of flour = 4 1/2 oz = 140g (this applies to breadcrumbs, ground almonds etc
1 US cup of butter/margarine or sugar = 7 oz = 200g
