Grapefruit Sherbet RecipeOrigin: America Period: Traditional |
|
American-style sherbets are very similar to sorbets in that they are basically frozen fruit juices, however sherbets tend to either have milk added before freezing or contain gelatine and this gives the product an extra creaminess. Ingredients:
500ml water
Grapefruit Sherbet Preparation:Method:Combine the sugar and water in a pan. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves then bring to a boil and continue boiling for 20 minutes. Take the syrup off the heat and allow to cool completely before adding the fruit juices. Pour the resultant mixture into the bowl of an ice cream machine and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Typically this sherbet is served garnished with chopped glacé cherries sprinkled on top. |
