Filfil Harr Mahshi bil Hoot Recipe

Origin: Libya      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

12 large green chillies
2 large fillets of firm white fish, finely chopped
1 bunch of mafroom (coriander [cilantor]), finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, chopped
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp kammon hoot
1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 tomatoes chopped
120ml passata (tomato juice)
1/2 tsp salt
oil for frying

Filfil Harr Mahshi bil Hoot Preparation:


Method:

Cut a slit in the sides of the chillies and remove the seeds then set the chillies aside.

Meanwhile combine the fish, coriander, onion, garlic, spices, lemon and salt in a bowl. Mix to combine then set aside to marinate for 20 minutes. Use this mixture to stuff the chillies then heat oil in a pan and fry the chillies in this.

Transfer the chillies to a baking dish, drizzle the oil from the pan over them then cover and transfer to an oven pre-heated to 160°C. Bake for 20 minutes, or until cooked through then serve.
