Egyptian Fig Cakes Recipe

Origin: Egypt      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

150g chopped almonds
150g chopped walnuts
250g figs, pitted
generous pinch of cinnamon
generous pinch nutmeg
honey for dipping

Egyptian Fig Cakes Preparation:


Method:

Add the walnuts to a blender along with the figs. Blend until smooth, adding a little water, as necessary (but you want a very thick mixture). Add the spices and blend to mix.

Turn the mixture into a bowl then take a little of the mix at a time and roll into 3cm diameter balls. Dip these in the honey to coat then roll in the chopped almonds. Serve as a snack or a treat.
