Ingredients
200g butter
Czech Biscuits Preparation:Method:Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy then add the egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and beat in. Meanwhile, sift together the flour, cardamom and allspice into a separate bowl. Gradually add to the butter mixture, beating thoroughly after each addition. Now stir-in the nuts until completely combined. Grease a square cake tin (about 20cm per side) and turn half the batter into this, spreading evenly to the corners of the pan. Top the batter with the strawberry jam then cover with the remaining batter. Transfer to an oven pre-heated to 160°C and bake for about 60 minutes, or until firm and lightly browned. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the tin then turn onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once cold cut into squares about 3cm per side and serve. |
