Carne Gisada is a classic South American stew of beef in a tomato and chilli sauce that typically is cooked and served with a carbohydrate source such as potatoes, plantains and yams. Ingredients:
1.3kg beef stewing steak, cubed
Crockpot Carne Gisada Preparation:Method:Combine the meat and water in a stockpot. Season well with salt and black pepper then cover and cook on high for about 90 minutes. Drain the juices from the tomatoes into a measuring jug and set aside. Add the tomatoes, garlic and onions to the crockpot and stir to combine. Cover and simmer on high for 30 minutes. Now add the spices and stir to combine. Make the tomato juice up to 360ml with water and stir into the meat mixture. Cover, reduce the heat to low and cook for between 3 and 4 hours, or until the sauce has thickened. Serve hot with rice and/or flour tortillas. |
