Crockpot Cajun Sausage and Rice Recipe

Origin: America      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

240g Kielbasa sausage (or similar smoked sausage) cut into 6mm slices
440g tin chopped tomatoes (with juice)
1 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 celery sticks, thinly sliced
2 chicken stock cube
1 tbsp Devil's Steak Sauce
3 bay leaves
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp Hot Pepper Sauce
120g instant rice (raw)
60g fresh parsley, chopped

Crockpot Cajun Sausage and Rice Preparation:


Method:

Combine the sausage, tomatoes, onion, green bell pepper, celery, stock cubes, steak sauce, bay leaves, sugar and hot pepper sauce in a crockpot. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours. Remove the bay leaves at this point and stir-in the rice along with 120ml water. Allow to cook for an additional 25 miutes (or until the rice is tender). Stir-in the parsley and serve immediately.
