Cinnamon French Toast Recipe

Origin: America      Period: Traditional

Ingredients

1 large egg, beaten
60ml milk (or 30ml natural + 30ml milk, combined)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3 slices bread
butter or oil for frying

Cinnamon French Toast Preparation:


Method:

Beat together the egg, milk (or milk and yoghurt), vanilla extract and cinnamon in a bowl. Turn this mixture into a large, shallow, dish (it should be large enough for the bread to fit comfortable and allow some space for movement).

Add one slice of brad to the mixture in the dish at a time, turning so that the bread is evenly coated on both sides and has been given a chance to absorb some of the egg mixture. Once coated, set the bread aside on a plate then add the next slice of bread.

When all the bread has been coated add a little butter or oil to a large frying pan, griddle or skillet over high heat. Reduce the heat then add the bread slices and allow to brown briefly on each side. Transfer to a serving plate and serve hot.

French toast can be served with syrup, honey, fruit or they can be enjoyed plain with a good cup of coffee.
