Chocolate Rough Slice Recipe

Origin: New Zealand      Period: Modern

Ingredients

For the Base

115g butter
115g sugar
200g flour
2 tsp cocoa
pinch of salt
75g coconut
1 tsp baking powder

For the Topping

200g icing sugar
25g melted butter
2 tsp cocoa
150g coconut
50ml sweetened condensed milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Rough Slice Preparation:


Method:

Cream the sugar and butter for the base together until pale and creamy. Add the dry ingredients and mix-in thoroughly then use to line the base of a square slice tin. Place in an oven pre-heated to 180°C and bake for 15 minutes. Meanwhile mix all the ingredients for the topping together and place over the top of the hot base.

Place back in the oven and cook for a further 5 minutes. Bring out of the oven, allow to sit for 10 minutes to cool then cut whilst still warm.
