Chocolate Chip Biscuits Recipe

Origin: New Zealand      Period: Modern

Ingredients

225g butter
150g icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
280g flour
1½ tsp baking powder
180g chocolate chips

Chocolate Chip Biscuits Preparation:


Method:

Cream together the butter and sugar until light and creamy. Add the vanilla essence and mix in then add the flour a little at a time and incorporate into the batter. Finally add the baking powder and chocolate chips. You should have a stiff dough that you can break pieces off of to roll into balls.

Place the balls onto a well-greased baking tray and press down with a fork (allow at least 4cm between the biscuits). Place in an oven pre-heated to 180°C and bake for between 15 and 20 minutes, until well-browned.

As a guide 1 US cup of flour = 4 1/2 oz = 140g (this applies to breadcrumbs, ground almonds etc
1 US cup of butter/margarine or sugar = 7 oz = 200g
