Cherry-glazed Baked Ham RecipeOrigin: America Period: Traditional |
Ingredients:
1 fully-cooked ham (about 3kg)
Cherry-glazed Baked Ham Preparation:Method:Arrange the ham in a roasting tin then transfer (uncoverd) to an oven pre-heated to 160°C and roast until done (for a fully-cooked ham, roast for 50 minutes per kg). Thirty minutes from the end of the cooking time, remove the meat from the oven. Pour the drippings from the pan then remove the rind from the ham (if there is one) and score the fat surface lightly in a diamond patter. Strain the cherry pie filling (reserve the cherries) then combine the strained pie filling syrup with the marmalade, sherry and orange juice. Pour the resultant mix over the ham then return to the oven and finish roasting for 30 minutes, basting frequently with the glaze. Remove the ham from the oven and allow to rest for 15 minutes before serving, garnished with the reserved cherries. |
