Cathedral Windows RecipeOrigin: Britain Period: Traditional |
Ingredients
4 egg yolks
Cathedral Windows Preparation:Method:First you need to cook the egg yolks. Separate eggs, and slip the yolks into just enough hot water to cover them. Cook at just below the boiling point until firm (about 5 to 8 minutes). Allow to cool then mash to a paste. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, mashed yolks and orange zest. Stir in the flour and salt until well blended, then stir in the candied fruit and cherries. Divide dough in half and shape into rolls about 3cm in diameter. Wrap in foil or plastic and chill for at least 2 hours. Unwrap the rolls of dough and slice into 0.5cm slices. Place 3cm apart on the well-greased baking trays. Place in an oven pre-heated to 150°C and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. When done the biscuits should be set, but not browned. When ready, remove from the baking trays and set on wire racks to cool. Find more Easter Recipes Here |
