Buttermilk Chive Biscuits RecipeOrigin: Britain Period: Traditional |
Ingredients:
280g plain flour
Buttermilk Chive Biscuits Preparation:Method:Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a bowl. Stir to mix well then add the butter and, using your fingers rub into the flour until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the buttermilk and chives then season with black pepper. Mix until the dry ingredients are only just moistened then bring the mixture together as a ball. Compress with your hands then turn out onto a lightly-floured work surface. Knead lightly about 12 times then pat the dough into a circle about 15mm thick. Use a 5cm pastry cutter to cut rounds from the dough (then press the scraps together and cut more rounds out). Transfer the rounds to a lightly-greased baking tray and place in an oven pre-heated to 210°C and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the tops of the biscuits are lightly browned. Serve warm with cheese and fruit. |
