Buttered Cobnuts Recipe

Origin: Britain      Period: Traditional

'Cobnut' is the common name for the wild hazelnut which is a very versatile nut. This recipe is one of the simplest way to prepare them and makes an excellent snack or even a starter.

Ingredients

240g shelled Cobnuts
45g butter
salt and black pepper, to taste

Buttered Cobnuts Preparation:


Method:

Melt the butter in pan, add the nuts and season to taste. Stir-fry until the nuts are lightly browned and cooked through. Serve immediately.

For an extra kick add a generous pinch or chilli flakes.

As a guide 1 US cup of flour = 4 1/2 oz = 140g (this applies to breadcrumbs, ground almonds etc
