Buttered Bladderwrack Recipe

Origin: Britain      Period: Traditional

This seaweed can be cooked simply and served as a vegetable and is delicious with lamb and red meats.

Ingredients:

400g fresh bladderwrack
50g unsalted butter
dried pepper dulse or freshly-ground black pepper, to taste

Buttered Bladderwrack Preparation:


Method:

Remove any of the tougher stems from the bladderwrack then wash thoroughly. Bring a pan of unsalted water to a boil, add the bladderwrack and boil for about 8 minutes, or until tender. Drain thoroughly then melt the butter in a pan and add the seaweed. Toss to coat, season to taste (either with the pepper dulse or black pepper) and serve as an accompaniment.
