Butter Biscuits with Orange Butter RecipeOrigin: Britain Period: Traditional |
Ingredients
280g plain flour
Butter Biscuits with Orange Butter Preparation:Method:Sift together the flour, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt into a bowl then stir-in the sugar. Cut in the butter or rub in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Now add the milk and stir in until just blended. Bring the mixture together as a dough and turn onto a lightly-floured work surface. Knead the dough for about 15 seconds then roll out to about 1cm thick. Cut into rounds with a 6cm pastry cutter then set about 3cm apart on a lightly-greased baking tray. Re-roll the scraps and cut more rounds from these. Transfer to an oven pre-heated to 10°C and bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool on the baking tray for 10 minutes. Meanwhile cream together the butter and orange marmalade. Use the orange butter to sandwich two of the biscuits together. Serve warm. |
