Broken Biscuit Cake RecipeOrigin: Britain Period: Traditional |
|
This recipe dates to the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, when grocers sold biscuits loose and you could buy a mixed bag of broken biscuits much cheaper than their intact counterparts. The recipe remains a great way of using-up unwanted Christmas biscuits and ti's wonderful for children to get used to cooking as it requires no baking. Ingredients:
450g plain chocolate
Broken Biscuit Cake Preparation:Method:Break the butter and chocolate into small cubes and add to a bain-marie (double boiler). Mix until completely melted and combined. Meanwhile, mix the broken biscuits and nuts in a bowl then add the chocolate mixture and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly then pour into a baking tin or dish about 25 x 35cm in size that's been well greased and lined with greaseproof paper. Allow to cool and set completely before turning out of the tin and cutting into fingers. |
