These brownies are intended to be served at breakfast time, but they also make an excellent accompaniment to coffee. Ingredients:
250g unsalted butter
Breakfast Brownies Preparation:Method:Cut the butter and chocolate into small pieces then place in a bowl and allow to melt in a bain-marie (a bowl set over a pan of water just off the boil). Meanwhile, beat together the eggs and sugar until pale and creamy then fold in the chocolate mixture. Finally add the flour, walnuts and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly to combine then tip into a 22 x 30cm pan that's been greased and lined with greaseproof paper. Level the surface of the batter then place in an oven pre-heated to 170°C and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the centre of the cake is just firm. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the tin then turn onto a wire rack to cool completely. When cold cut into squares and serve. |
