Ingredients
1 very ripe plantain per person (for this, the plantains should be almost black)
Belizean Fried Plantains Preparation:Method:Peel the plantains and trim the ends. Slice them lengthways into thin slices (like French fries). Heat the butter in a deep pan (you need at least 0.5cm depth) and when hot add your plantain strips. Fry on both sides until golden (about 12 minutes). Drain on kitchen paper, sprinkle with salt and serve. For special occasions they can be served with sour cream (this is a Belizean luxury item). |
