Beer Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Origin: America      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

250ml prepared barbecue sauce
250ml tomato catsup
160ml beer (allowed to go flat)
60ml honey or black treacle (molasses)
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp hot pepper sauce
1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 onions, finely chopped

Beer Barbecue Sauce Preparation:


Method:

Combine the barbecue sauce, catsup, beer, honey, lemon juice, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, pepper, garlic and onions in a large bowl. Whisk to combine and use as a marinade for our favourite meat. Ideally food should be marinated in this mixture for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.

You can place any unused marinade in a saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes to thicken and serve as a dipping sauce.
