Bean Biscuits RecipeOrigin: America Period: Traditional |
Ingredients
210g plain flour
Bean Biscuits Preparation:Method:Sift the flours, baking powder, salt and sugar into a bowl then add the butter and rub into the fours with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs then set the mixture aside. Combine the beans and milk in a blender and puree until smooth. Add this to the flour mixture and stir until the mix comes together as a soft dough. Turn the dough onto a lightly-floured surface, dust with a little flour then knead gently until smooth. Roll the dough out to about 6mm thick then use a 6cm pastry cutter to cut rounds from the pastry. Transfer these to a lightly-greased baking tray. Re-roll the pastry and cut more rounds. Transfer the biscuits to an oven pre-heated to 200°C and bake for about 12 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes before carefully transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. These savoury biscuits go very well with cheese or can be used with dips. |
