Barbecued Meatballs Recipe

Origin: America      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:
900g minced beef
140g breadcrumbs
1 tsp garlic powder
2 packets onion soup mix
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 dashes Tabasco sauce
2 eggs

For the Sauce:
2 onions, chopped
720ml tomato purée
2 garlic cloves, minced
60ml Worcestershire sauce
60ml red wine vinegar
70g brown sugar
120ml Sweet Pickle Relish
120ml beef stock
1 tsp salt
2 tsp mustard powder

Barbecued Meatballs Preparation:


Method:

Combine all the ingredients for the meatballs in a bowl and mix well. Shape these into meatballs (about 50) and brown in batches in a frying pan. Drain on kitchen paper and set aside.

Mix all the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl and pour into your slow cooker (crockpot). Add the meatballs and cook, covered, on low for about 5 1/2 hours (or high for 2 1/2 hours). Serve hot with rice.
