15g pectin

Apfelkraut
(Home-made Apple Syrup) Preparation:


Method:

Wash, quarter, and core the apples then cut into coarse slices. Boil the apples in nearly no water until they are cooked. Then place the apples on a suitable cloth and squeeze the juice out. Boil the juice with the sliced vanilla stick and the pectin until it forms a thick syrup.

As a guide 1 US cup of flour = 4 1/2 oz = 140g (this applies to breadcrumbs, ground almonds etc
1 US cup of butter/margarine or sugar = 7 oz = 200g
