Angelica Liqueur RecipeOrigin: Britain Period: Traditional |
Ingredients:
1 tsp dried marjoram
Angelica Liqueur Preparation:Method:Begin with the angelica. Combine the angelica root and 60ml vodka in a glass jar. Seal tightly and set aside to infuse for 2 weeks. After 1 week has passed, grind the cardamom and apricot pit in a pestle and mortar. Combine in a glass jar with the marjoram, allspice, star anise, cinnamon and coriander seeds. Add 60ml vodka and seal tightly then set aside to infuse for 1 week. When the week is um make a sugar syrup by combining the sugar, water and citric acid in a pan. Heat, stirring constantly, until all the sugar has dissolved (about 15 minutes) then take off the heat and set aside to cool. Take the cardamom vodka and strain through a coffee filter. Combine in a measuring jug with 240ml vodka and the sugar syrup. Add the angelica root vodka a little at a time, until you like the flavour. Pour the resultant mix into bottles, stopper tightly then set aside to mature for 2 months. After this time test the flavour again then adjust by the addition of more vodka, syrup or angelica vodka, as desired. |
