Amish Shortcake Recipe

Origin: America      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

1/2 Angel Food Cake, cut into cubes
130g (1 pkg) Vanilla Pudding Mix
250ml milk
600ml vanilla ice cream
1 packet strawberry jelly
240ml boiling water
250g strawberries, halved

Amish Shortcake Preparation:


Method:

Place the angel food cake in the bottom of an earthenware or casserole dish. Add the milk and ice cream to a pan and bring to a boil. Mix with the vanilla pudding mix and pour into the dish. Allow to cool then refrigerate until cold.

When the mixture is cold pour the boiling water over the jelly and stir until molten. Add the strawberries and cool before pouring over the vanilla mixture. Place back in the fridge until set then serve.
