Amish Pumpkin Bread Recipe

Origin: Amish      Period: Traditional

Ingredients:

450g granulated sugar
240ml vegetable oil
4 eggs, beaten
450g cooked pumpkin (canned is fine)
600g flour
160ml water
2 tbsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp ground nutmeg

Amish Pumpkin Bread Preparation:


Method:

Mix together the sugar, oil and eggs in a bowl then add the pumpkin and mix thoroughly before adding all the dry ingredients. Mix into the dough then add the water to form a batter. Pour this batter into two greased and floured 22 x 12 cm loaf tins.

Place in an oven pre-heated to 170°C and bake for an hour, or until cooked through and nicely browned. Allow to cool then slice before serving. This is nice spread with butter or cream cheese.
