Ingredients
200g sugar
Almond Halva Preparation:Method:Combine the sugar, honey, water and cinnamon together in a saucepan. Place on medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a frying pan and add the almonds and cream of wheat. Cook over low heat, stirring slowly but continuously, until the mixture is a golden brown. When ready add the fried mixture to the syrup and mix well. Cover with a lid and continue cooking for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. When this time is up pour into a buttered 22 x 25cm shallow pan. Allow to cool and solidify then cut into squares and sprinkle with a mix of icing sugar and cinnamon. |
