Slow Cookers (Crockpots) are an amazing way of cooking a dish very slowly. They're particularly good for tough cuts of meat as the slow cooking allows for the meat to tenderize. They're also great for busy people as you can prepare everything the night before, turn the machine on in the morning and just leave it cooking away until you come home in the evening. Ingredients
1.5kg chuck steak, cut into 3cm cubes
All Day Crockpot Delight Preparation:Method:Scatter the 70g plain flour over a plate and roll the meat in this until completely coated. Melt the butter in a frying pan and use to fry the beef. Drain off the excess fat and transfer the beef to your slow cooker then ad the onion, salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic and beer. Cover and cook on low power for about 6 to 7 hours, or until the meat is tender and almost falling apart. Combine the remaining flour with a little cold water to form a paste then increase the crockpot heat to 'high'. Stir the flour into the meat mixture and allow to cook for about 35 minutes. Serve hot with boiled rice and a green salad or an onion salad. |
