English TranslationThis is the South Walian version of what in the North is known as Taffi Triog. Equally as delicious and bad for the teeth. Ingredients:
225g black traecle Method:Melt the butter in a pan over low heat then add the treacle and sugar. Stir and cook gently until the treacle is soft then raise the heat, bring to a boil and continue boiling for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture reaches the Hard Crack Stage (hen you drop a little of the syrup in water at this stage i will solidify into threads that will shatter at the slightest torsion — about 150°C). Pour into a rectangular, greased, tin and when nearly cold use a sharp knife to cut into sizeable squares. Allow to cool, remove from the tin then break into pieces and store in an air-tight jar. |
