English TranslationIngredients:
200g brown sugar Method:Combine the first eight ingredients in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 3 minutes. Take off the heat and set aside to cool. When cold combine the bicarbonate of soda with the boiling water and pour this into the saucepan. Sift the flour and baking powder together then add to the contents of the saucepan. Mix thoroughly then turn the contents of the pan into a greased 1kg loaf tin and place in an oven pre-heated to 180°C. Bake for about an hour, or until the top of the cake is golden an a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake emerges cleanly. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. |
