Welcome to the Celtnet Cocktails and Long Drinks Recipes Home Page

Welcome to Celtnet's Cocktails and Long Drinks Recipes Page — This page brings together all the recipes for cocktails, long drinks and mixers currently listed on this site. Here you will find recipes for wines and spirits flavoured with wild ingredients as well as recipes for spiced or 'mulled' drinks and punches. Listed here are all the cocktails and mixed drinks listed on this site as well. Though most of these drinks contain alcohol there are also recipes for non-alchoholic drinks and non-alcoholic versions of both cocktails and traditional long drinks. The mixing or spicing of drinks has a much longer tradition than most people immagine, certainly going back to the Ancient Egyptians, if not earlier. Howerver, modern cocktails, where drinks from all around the world are combined go back to the 17th Century and the Carribean sea trade where rum was mixed with beer and other drinks to make punches and toddies. The modern mixed cocktail, though having its origins in the late 19th century truly dates to the 1920s and new cocktails and drink mixes (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) have been created, invented and re-invented ever since. Here I am trying to draw together the version of familiar and traditional drinks as well as versions that youwill not have encountered before. Enjoy...
