Cream Fruit and Honey
Because of our origins as arobreal apes humans have a sweet tooth. We like fruit and we like sweeteners such as honey ans sugar. It's almost inconceievable that our ancient ancestors did not have something in their repertoir that equates to what we would today call a 'dessert'. Perhaps the easiest such dessert would be made from fruit (or sweet flowers, depending on the season) and honey.
Ingredients
200ml cream (which could be cream from cow, sheep or goat milk)
300g fruit (blackberries, wild strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, elderberries, gooseberries or blueberries [or any other fruit that takes your fancy])
[alternatively in spring you could use sweet flowers such as elder, gorse, violet, heather, primrose, rose or clover]
[in later autumn you can use sweet nuts such as hazel and/or beech]
sufficient honey to drizzle over the top
sprig of mint to decorate
Preparation
Jiust about anyone can create a dessert such as the one described above. Simply place the furit/flowers/nuts (or any mixture thereof) in a bowl, pour the cream over the top then drizzle the honey over the top of this. A simple, very tasty and very seasonal dessert.
