Affiliate Programs — Understanding ClickBank Links

As one of the largest affiliate programs around today I'm going to devote this page in its entirety to understanding the internals of ClickBank links and what they mean.

ClickBank IDs and ClickBank Links

Once you have registered with ClickBank you will have chosen what's called a 'ClickBank ID' that uniquely identifies you on the ClickBank network. As an example let's say that my ClickBank id is nemeton13 (it isn't in fact, this is merely and example). As an unique identifier this is my key to both logging-in to ClickBank and to identifying those campaigns from ClickBank that I'm personally promoting.

After registernig at ClickBank you can look trough their entire network for the particular subsection of content that you're interested in. Click on the URL presented to you (once you have chosen a product that you're intrested in becoming an affilate of) and you will be hyprelinked to the site for that product. Somewhere on that site (usually at the very bottom) you will see a link named 'affiliate' which will take you to the site's sign-up page for affiliates. Generally you will be presented with a text link like 'http://CLICKBANKID.richjerk.hop.clickbank.net'. To activate this link, simply replace the 'CLICKBAMKID' with your personal Id (nemeton13 in the case of may example and add a name to the link so that it becomes <a href="http://nemeton13.richjerk.hop. clickbank.net">The Rich Jerk. Most ClickBank URLs are only text links, but you can generally find an image on one of the host site's pages which you can download to your own images directory to build an image-based link if you want. For the example above this might be: <a href="http://nemeton13.richjerk.hop.clickbank.net"><img src="../images/12060.gif" width="120" height="60" align=left></a>.

Essentially, once you have the basic ClickBank link you alter it in a number of ways to suit your own site. As long as you add the appropriate text and graphics you are only limited by your own creativity.

Add your own personally-generated URL to an appropriate part of your webiste and with any luch the affiliate commisions should start pouring in.
