Siemens AG  —   Germany

Siemens AG, founded in 1847 in Berlin, Germany, is Europe's largest engineering conglomerate. Siemens' six operational business areas are Automation & Control (Automation & Drives, Industrial Solutions & Services, Siemens Building Technologies), Power (Power Generation, Power Transmission), Transportation (Transportation Systems, Siemens VDO), Medical (Siemens Medical Solutions), Information & Communication (Siemens Communications, Siemens IT Solutions and Services), and Lighting (OSRAM GmbH, OSRAM Sylvania) and under the auspices of the Information & Communication division they are a large global manufacturer of mobile phones. Under the Xelebri name Siemens created a range of fashion-orientated mobile phones in 2003. Two 'collections' each consisting of 4 bizarrely designed phones were released before the Xelibri project was dropped due to poor sales in April 2004. The first 'Space on Earth' collection with its star trek influences was designed in house by Siemens whilst the second 'Fashion Extravaganza' collection was contracted out to IDEO design. Models included the Xelebri X1, X4 and X7.
