Making Money from the Web:

Above all else, if you whish to make any kind of income on the web you'll need at least one (but really two or three) on-line banking accounts. The good news, however, is that signing-up for these accounts is FREE!

Internet Banking Accounts:

PayPal — amongst the biggest and most well known. Join them Here

ClickBank — probably the most popular payment service amongst internet vendors and affiliate programmes. Join them Here

StormPay — gaining in popularity as a payment system. It has advantages over other internet banking/payment systems in that it offers a Mastercard debit card that withdraws funds from your account. This is also the only payment system with its own StormClick 'Pay to Click' section that allows you to earn money straight into your account. Join them Here

e-Gold — a popular payment service that can be funded from several sources such as londongoldexchange.com or goldex.net (both of which accept credit cards). Join them Here

Alternate Mail Account(s)

Remember, in trying to make money from the web you are running a business. Gaining additional e-mail accounts achieves several three main things. It separates you 'business' e-mail from your personal mails, it allows you to easily weed-out 'spam' e-mail; it also helps you keep track of important e-mails associated with your internet income (I recommend saving these in a separate mail folder called KEEP or something equally memorable.

If you subscribe to DSL/Broadband your provider will generally give you several e-mail accounts. Use one of these as your web business account. Alternatively you could use the 'free' web services of Hotmail or Yahoo (though these tend to attract a lot of spam). At the moment mail.com and zWallet seem to offer a good service and currently they have little spam.

Always Available Internet Connection

This may seem obvious, but if you're in Europe using dial-up and staying connected for 100 hours or more a week you're going to start paying lots of money for the privilege. Most providers now have some form of unmetered deal for a flat rate. If you want to find such an ISP type the phrase 'free isp' into the Google search box above. If you're serious about a web business then get a broadband/dsl connection. Especially if you're going to be generating your own website. But remember to factor the monthly cost of the DSL connection into your income plans. To find a range of broadband providers in your region/country use the search box above to search for 'broadband provider'.

Protect your PC

If you have a Mac or a Linux/Unix box then, for the moment at least, you can skip this section. However, if you have a PC then to get your web income system off the ground you will be visiting dozens of websites at a time. As a result you will be putting yourself at risk from viruses and 'malware': most especially adware and spyware, the current scourge of the internet. One of the better products for removing 'malware' is STOPzilla. Another good spyware/malware remover is XsoftSpy. A must-have is anti-virus software. As well as the big players such as McAfee Virex and Symantec AntiVirus (use the search box above to find vendors) there are other good products out there. One such is The Shield Pro 2006 — Antivirus and Firewall which offers both antivirus and firewall as well as free virus definitions update for a year. For general system maintenance I'd recommend a product such as WinOptimizer Platinum 2.

Web-specific Credit Card

In general the web is a pretty safe place to buy things on, as long as you stick with reputable companies and only give your credit card details out on secure sites or pages. Indeed, you are far more likely to be defrauded at your local restaurant than on the web. Which is not to say that there fraud still happens on the net. For this reason I suggest you get a credit card specifically for internet use (one with a low credit limit). Then check your balances every month very carefully. Usually your existing card supplier will arrange a separate card on an alternate account for you. Alternatively you could always perform a search for 'credit card' using the search box above or below.
