Vindonnus is a god known from three inscriptions found at Essarois, Côte d'Or, France where he is invoked as Vind(onno) [CIL XIII 5646], [deo Apolloni Vind]onno [CIL XIII 5645] and deo Apolloni Vindon[no] [CIL XIII 5644]. Thus this deity is equated with the Roman god, Apollo by Interpretato Romana.
Unfortunately no representations of this god have survived, however his name can be interpreted on the basis of the reconstructed proto-Celtic as being composed of the elements: *windo- (white), along with the Latinized masculine ending -us. Thus Vindonnus is 'The White One'. In common with many Celtic names the 'white' here may be used in the sense of 'blessed' thus Vindonnus is 'the Blessed One' which might well explain his association with Roman Apollo.
