Tritullus is a god known from a single inscription found at Saint-Laurent-de-Trèves in the Lozère region of France (CIL XIII 01561) where he is invoked as MAR[ti] TRITVLLO. Thus this deity is equated by Interpretato Romana with the Roman deity, Mars.
Tritullus' name can be interpreted as being derived from the reconstructed proto-Celtic elements *trīs- (three) and *tullo- (pierced, perforated). Thus Tritullus' name can be interpreted as 'The Thrice-piercing One'. This would fit with the deity's assimilation into the cult of Roman Mars. It would seem that Tritullus' weapon of choice would be the spear and that he killed with three thursts of this spear (three being a sacred number amongst the Celts).
