Hidua is known only from a single inscription found at Etrechy, Cher, France where she is associated with the following deities Gnatus, Isosa, Carantana, Etiona and Mercury.

The etymology of Hidua's name is uncertain, though it may be related to the reconstructed proto-Celtic root edwon- (pain) which yields the old Irish word idu 'pain, birthpangs' (As the H in Gaulish names is often voiceless or an addition due to Roman transcription this at least makes some sense). Thus Hidua may have been a goddess of childbirth, assoicated with the healing aspects of Mars.
