Gnatus is known only from a single inscription found at Etrechy, Cher, France. He is associated with the deities Etiona, Isosa, Carantana, Hidua and Mercury.
Nothing is known of this god save his name which is derived from the proto-Celtic *gnath (knowledge). Thus Gnatus' name may be translated as 'He who knows'. Thus he may be the same type of deity as Gwydion or Mathonwy; druid-mages.
