A hypothetical goddess derived from the river Fyrnwy, Powys. 'Fyrnwy is a truncated form of the original Efyrnwy which is proposed to be derived from 'The river of the goddess Efr'. The word efr may itself be derived from a concatenation of the middle-Cymric gefr, modern Cymric gafr (goat) along with the word nwyf- (vital spirit, [but it can also mean 'holy'] thus Efyrnwy may originally have been the goat goddess ie 'holy one of the goat'.
