A Gaulish deity know from an inscription at Aignay-le-Duc, Côte d'Or, France where he is named as the consort of Damona. Like Damona's other consorts: Apollo, Borvo, Bormo Albius was probably a healer deity.
Albius' name is derived from the reconstructed proto-Celtic roots: albjo- (world) and us (masculine ending); giving us something like 'He of the World' or 'He who is the World' as a meaning. Etymologically Albius bears a strong resemblance to the name of the god Albiorix and it may be that they are the same deity.
