This eZine will be published on February 13th, which is both an un-auspicious day according to some folklore and the day before Valentine's day. I hope your marketing efforts for this day for lovers have been going well. After all it's the first big festival after Christmas. Though your attention now should be firmly fixed on Easter, which is the next big festival for many of us. First, however, I'm going to dwell a little on my attitude to the number 13. As a Celt 13 was actually a lucky number. It was only the later introducton of Christianity that made it in-auspicious (and that only happened during the Middle Ages). For the Celts 13 was the number of the signs in the Zodaiac, the number of solar houses that the earth rotates through. This is true today. So, anyone looking at a horoscope with just 12 zodiacal signs in it is looking at something that's completely wrong. Indeed, the Celts' understanding of the stars and the night sky as well as the solar and lunar years was much more comprehensive than the calendars we use today, even.
But that's enough of my tub-thumping. Today I'm going to bring something really special to your attention. A completely new advertising system that pays you for each person who opens your web page! Yes, an ad system that pays you for 100% of your visitors. Read my feature article, below, to find out more about it!
This week also celebrates the birth of my Celtnet Articles free article submission site. It's a great site that allows you to easily sign-in and begin submitting articles. These articles can include back-links to your sites in the 'resource' or 'about the author'. Moreover, the articles are pinged to all the major RSS feed aggregators every evening so your articles get maximal exposure. There's even a simple publish button and a search facility so you can easily find articles that are relevant to your eZine or blog and get the source for the articles very quickly.

Pay-per-Play Advertising: Monetize your Site
by Dyfed Lloyd Evans
If you've been subscribing to various internet marketer newsletters (like mine), or you have been dropping by the marketing forums then you may have heard of the buzz that Pay-per-Play marketing is causing. If you've not yet been clued-into the buzz, let me tell you what it's all about.
In our jaded profession, we've all seen everything, right? Well... Every now and then something completely new comes along in terms of internet advertising. I've just found out about a new form of internet advertising that I believe will catch-on very quickly. At this present moment in time you also have the ability to join for free and earn money for playing sounds on your website, just a small piece of code is required. To find out more go to:
Pay-Per-Play (PPP) advertising is the name of this revolution. PPP works on a bid management system similar to Google AdWords and will compensate publishers just like Google AdSense but with one critical difference... Publishers (website owners) earn revenue on 100% of their traffic... no clicks necessary!
PPP is a way for advertisers to serve 5-second audio ads to a website's visitors. But because websites serve a whole range of interests, topic and niches PPP offers advertisers a way to reach their target audience (and that audience can be very targeted and is the only form of media whose impressions and ad placements are verified by an independent 3rd party.
The ads themselves are very professional (many are made by the biggest players in the industry) and you don't have to serve them on your website. Rather, you just sign-up to the system and grab a short piece of javascript that you embed into each of your websites and you're done. Now, we all know that audio on websites can be very annoying, but the ads served here are only five seconds long and they run (and finish) as soon as your web page has loaded. As a result they're not too distracting and are easily ignored by your site's visitors.
The ads are even backed by one of the top 5 search engine systems, so this is a professional set-p from the get-go (you can find out more about this Here.
As a marketer, however, what's also good is that:
You get 25% of the amount bid by the publisher for their ad (this is much more than Google). You can also earn by referring other website owners, online marketing firms, fortune 500 companies, etc. to run PPP ads on their website(s). You will earn a healthy 5% of the total amount that our advertisers spend running ads on your referrals website(s). You also earn 5% of the amount that the advertiser spends on PPP ads played on the website(s) that your direct referrals bring on board. As a result there are 3 levels of commission. Each potentially bringing you a very healthy income each and every week!
It's best to get in on the ground quickly though as once the system reaches a critical mass of subscribers the ability to have affiliates and sub-affiliates will be shut down.
As far as I can see this is a win-win situation. Currently these ads do not violate Google's TOS so you can put the audio ads up on your site alongside your usual ad system. And as it's only a few lines of javascript you need to add it's hardly onerous on your part. Though unless you have a global 'footer' file you may find yourself doing a lot of cutting and pasting. The ads are fairly unobtrusive and they don't last long as a result your traffic won't go down. You also get a good percentage of the ad's value. Though as the system is new it's not possible to say yet how much income this system will bring.
As far as I see it, you have very little to lose in putting these ads to work for you... You can at least put them to the test and see if they perform for you. Personally I think this is the wave of the future, given the current problems of 'ad blindness' and the reduction in click-through rates that everyone is seeing.
I'm testing the ads on this site at the moment and there's one on this very page. One thing to remember is that the system only truly went live on the 11th of February (two days ago) so it may take a few months to find out how the system really works and whether it's worth adding to your portfolio of products and revenue sources. I will report back on my experiences in a couple of months' time. But for now, the experiment is truly worth the effort, or so I believe...
You can sign-up directly to the program at the Sign-up Page or if you want more information, go to the Pay Per Play Ads information page.
To your marketing success!

What's Hot in ClickBank
With so much of my focus going on ClickBank and ClickBank associated pages over the past few (and the forthcoming months) I thought that I should add a weekly digest of What's Hot in ClickBank to you, my loyal readers. Each weekend I update the ClickBank feed for my Celtnet ClickBank Marketplace, which then drives the various Free ClickBank search and Ads Code systems I provide. I've also started to perform analyses of the current against the previous ClicBank datafeed releases. Each time ClickBank perform a new release they analyze their sales and other data for that time period and they re-evaluate product rankings on this basis. New products come in, old products fall out of the system and product rankings go up and go down. I will soon be making a full digest of these data available so you can check which products have moved, how the products you are promoting are doing, as well as keeping you informed of any product price changes...
What this isn't is a list of all the top products for the week. Indeed, the top products probably aren't the ones you should promote as there's a lot of competition out there. Rather, what I'm presenting is a digest of the 'hot' mid range products. The ones that are on the up. I also support these product statements with an analysis of what people are searching for on my system. And you have to remember that I annotate all he ClickBank products by hand so my Celtnet ClickBank Search System ClickBank search system is one of the most comprehensive out there, and certainly better that ClickBank's own serach system. It's also the same system that drives my Free ClickBank Search Code, allowing you to put comprehensive ClickBank searches on your site.
The ClickBank database driving this site was updated on Tuesday 12th February 2008 with the inclusion of 117 new products into the ClickBank system. These have been uploaded and annotated into the Celtnet ClickBank Marketplace and are now searchable. All the products have had their images updated and the products in ClckBank's 'top 30' in all categories have had their descriptions and sales text to make them easier for you to sell!
Of the various searches performed on my site during the previous week, two really stand out. The first is for anything to do with 'recession' and the second for the terms 'eliminate debt' or clear debt so you can see that the economic downturn and the efect of Christmas bills are the two things foremost on people's mind. Interestingly, however, the products that are making most advances in terms of ClickBank rankings are all those to do with gardening (search for gardening greenhouse orchids. These seem to be the products to promote at the moment and if you can build a niche site around these terms then using these ad feeds for your site would be a real boon. Remember that it will soon be even easier for you to have these ads on your site as you can use an RSS feed along with your AdSense ads. I'll provide you with all the tools you need!
*New* As a service to all the loyal supporters who are using my Celtnet ClickBank Marketplace I'm now offering a weekly digest of all the new and latest products in the ClickBank marketplace download. As always, there is no charge for this service and I certainly don't want you to sign-up for anything. You can access my Cletnet ClickBank Marketplace Digest.

Multiple Ad Streams...
This week I'm going to talk to you about your site's advertising. Are you just using Google's Adsense, or is your advertising diversified? Yes, I know that Google's TOS (terms of service) are restrictive and that you can't add any other ad sources along with Google. You're also limited to 3 ad units with Google so this could be a problem if you have long pages (such as this eZine, in fact). Above, you've heard about the Pay-per-Play ad systems that has now appeared. As this is completely different from Google ads you can add this to your website (each individual web page in fact) without contravening Google's terms of servce.
This makes one additional advertising income stream that you can add to your site to supplement your adsense income. You can also use banner advertising and static image or text-based ads as long as they're sufficiently differentiated from Google's ads and you're not trying to make them look like Google ads (that's two sources of additional income). You can also incorporate RSS feeds into your site. If you look on the right-hand pane of this page you will see ads titled 'Celtnet CB RSS'. These aren't typical ads. Rather they're an RSS feed produced from my ClickBank RSS Feed Generator page (which anyone can use free to add ClickBank products to their page). I've wrapped the feed in a little PHP code that means I can print it out in a table that looks like a set of ads. But all I've done is to incorporate an RSS feed into my site (and this does not contravene Google's TOS).
With very little effort I've managed to add 3 additional income sources to my web page and none of them contravene Google's TOS! With this knowlege and a little work on your part you, too, can add to your income streams and squeeze even more potential income from each page on your website. It's all about knowing what you can and cannot do and being clever.
Business Tip
Expanding your Portfolio...
Over the past year I have been growing my Celtnet site into an authority site, rather than the cluster of minisites that it started out as (for a discussion of the merits of Minisites versus Authority Sites read this article). As a result I've added a truly huge collection of recipes to my Celtnet Recipes section of this site. The original Celtic sections of the site are still growing and I have regions for Medicine, Mobile Phones and much more. There is a new forum at Celtnet Forums and a review section at Celtnet Reviews. Big recent additions include the CeltNet ClickBank Marketplace as well as the eBooks sales and advertising pages.
The site has grown remarkably during the past 12 months and I'm constantly adding new content and features. But the one thing that was missing was a proper article directory. Of course, I've been writing articles all over the site and using them in many ways. But I didn't have a central repository of articles anywhere. This was a big gap and a big missing piece from my site. A week ago I started on the Celtnet Articles directory and now it's ready to go primetime. Originally it was designed for me. But I've now ammended the code so that anyone can sign in and submit their articles. Articles can also be pubished and used by anyone for their blogs and eZines. This is a fully-featured article site that I am going to be promoting heavily over the coming months. My portfolio of products and solutions is nearing completion and now you can use my Celtnet Articles site to promote your website, product or even to add to your own 'Bum Marketing' campaign strategy. What's best is that the article site has an RSS feed that's automatically pinged to the feed aggregators every evening. As a result you get a lot of quick exposure to your submission.
That's it for this week, ladies and gentlemen. Check back next week for more from the world of CeltNet.
